Reg: How to take Canada Biometric appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is announce that VACs across India will begin scheduling limited biometric appointments as of November 20th 2020.
For health & safety reasons, these appointments must be confirmed in advance with the VAC Contact Center and priority will be given to Family Class sponsored applicants (spouses, partners and children) and Students.
1. What is the process to book a biometric appointment under the new VAC services?
If you have received a Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) from IRCC, you will receive additional information to the email address we have on file for you on how to schedule your biometric appointment.
Applicants need to submit the VAC webform online to request an appointment and then the VAC will confirm your appointment by email.
DO NOT send multiple webform submissions; it will not increase your chance of receiving an appointment. In fact, it will slow down the process. As demand is high and appointments are limited, the VACs cannot offer you a preferred date and time and missed appointments will not be rescheduled. If you have not yet received a BIL, we appreciate your patience as more appointments will become available each week as we phase in this service.
2. How will I know when more appointments become available?
Appointments are being released each week. Biometric appointments are free and the only way to request and confirm an appointment is through the VAC Contact Center. You must have a unique Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) issued directly by IRCC in order to request an appointment.
Do use a local agent like Kiwi immigation Services they have recognized IRCC member as an authorized agent.
It is important that you provide IRCC with your email, contact information so that we can share important information and updates directly with you. To update your contact info, click on: IRCC secure account
If you are a Family Class applicant or a student, once the VAC Contact Center receives your web form requesting a biometric appointment they will schedule you into the next available slot and you will receive an email notification.
3. I am applying for permanent resident status in Canada and received a request to complete my biometrics. Should I schedule an appointment if I have already completed biometrics as part of my temporary resident application?
Due to COVID 19, as a temporary measure, if you gave your biometrics for another application within the last 10 years, you don’t need to give your biometrics again. If you’ve never enrolled your biometrics in the past, or it’s been longer than 10 years, you’ll need to give them when the biometric collection sites closest to you start offering biometric collection services again.
